The Connection between Radio and Gamma-ray Emission in AGN

Marcello Giroletti

Abstract:

Radio and Gamma-ray emission from AGNs are thought to share a common origin, related to the ejection phenomena in the vicinity of supermassive black holes. Thanks to its sensitivity, surveying capability, and broad energy range, the Fermi-LAT has permitted us to discover and characterize a huge number of radio loud AGN. We will present the radio properties of the detected AGNs after one year of LAT survey, and discuss their connection to the Gamma-ray emission (flux, spectral index, variability). The significance of apparent radio/Gamma-ray correlations will be tested with Monte Carlo simulations.
