Fermi ToO 060625-1-1

A ToO observation to observe PS B1259-63 at RA, Dec = 190.7000, -53.8000 (J2000) was approved at 2014-06-23 18:54:01 UTC.

The justification for the ToO is: Aperture photometry indicates that PSR B1259-63 continues to be active. A brightening is seen on 2014-06-23 that may be brighter than the previous maximum observed 11 days earlier. The previous periastron passage 3.4 years ago showed that activity continued for approximately another 16 days from the equivalent phase as now. It is therefore requested that interleaved pointed observations of PSR B1259-63 with sky survey continue until the modified survey resumes in mission week 319. While there are similarities with the previous outburst from 3.4 years ago there are also differences. Conducting further pointed observations will give us the maximum possibility of comparing the different outbursts that occur so infrequently. Interleaving with sky survey will allow full sky coverage to continue

The planned duration is 1380.00 ks.

The autonomous request threshold during this ToO is LOW.

The ToO observation should begin between 2014-06-23 18:54:01 UTC and 2014-06-30 18:54:01 UTC.

The ToO observation was requested by DR. ROBIN CORBET.
