The First GLAST Symposium

Planetarium Show

The GLAST Education and Public Outreach Group is pleased to invite symposium attendees to a screening of the planetarium show "Black Holes: The Other Side of Infinity" to be shown at the Chabot Space and Science Center at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7.

Featuring cutting-edge science and jaw-dropping graphics, "Black Holes" takes you to the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way, shows how black holes may have formed in the early Universe, and details how astronomers study them. It ends with a trip into a black hole, using fully-realized simulations of Einstein's relativistic equations. Most of the graphics in the program are not artistic illustrations, but instead are the solutions to mathematical models derived by supercomputers at the National Center for Supercomputer Applications.

"Black Holes: The Other Side of Infinity" was created in cooperation with GLAST science and E/PO team members, and seed money for the original project was provided by the GLAST project.
