The Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope launch in June 2008 has ushered in the new era of high energy gamma-ray astrophysics. The preparations for launch, launch itself, observatory commissioning and checkout, routine operations, analysis software and data delivery have all been extremely smooth. This has laid the foundation for the numerous science results presented at this meeting. In this talk I will review the status and performance of the observatory during the first year of operations.
