New SNR Candidates in the First Fermi-LAT SNR Catalog

Abstract:

In the first Fermi-LAT Supernova Remnant (SNR) Catalog, we have systematically characterized the GeV emission in regions of known SNRs., identifying more than 100 GeV candidates. Spatial coincidence suggests that 30 of these are likely SNRs while another 14 are marginally coincident. Of the most likely candidates, we found 4 new extended SNRs and 10 which are best described by a point source morphology. We will explore some of the interesting characteristics of the SNR candidates and touch on the remaining >50 interesting GeV sources within 3deg of a known radio remnant. All data will become publicly available in electronic format from the Fermi Science Support Center.
