X-ray view of Andromeda Galaxy

Hiromitsu Takahashi

Abstract:

Andromeda Galaxy, M31, is the nearest normal spiral galaxy, and is observed in multi-wavelengths intensively from radio to gamma-ray. We analyzed X-ray emission around the galactic center observed by Chandra, XMM-Newton and Suzaku. After excluding/estimating point-source contributions, there still remains the diffuse emission (including the unresolved point source contributions). We compare the characteristics with those observed in our Milky Way Galaxy and discuss the origin.
