Hands-On Data Analysis Workshop

This workshop includes hands-on sessions for each topic to give attendees time to experiment and ask questions. Please ensure that you bring a laptop with the Fermi Science Tools installed to take full advantage of these exercises. The workshop will begin at 9:30 AM.

Mission Overview & Data Usage Caveats

Introduction to the Data

• Data Access & Exploration
• Handling Livetime and Exposure Calculations
• LAT Catalogs & Generating source models for analysis
  Includes using catalog information, user contributed tools, and checking with modeleditor

Likelihood Analysis

• Unbinned Spectral Fitting - plus using gtfindsrc, and generating TS maps
• Binned Spectral Fitting - plus fitting extended sources and generating resdiuals maps
• Generating Lightcurves - using both Aperture Photometry and Likelihood

Using Python to Streamline Analysis

• pyLikelihood Spectral Analysis
• Calculating Upper Limits
