Abstract:

The recently released Third Fermi-LAT gamma-ray source catalogue (3FGL; Acero et al. 2015) derived from the first 4 years of observations contains 3033 sources. About 30% of the 3FGL sources are still unidentified or not even associated with potential gamma-ray emitters selected from object catalogues. Statistical classification methods provide useful hints to classify these sources in either of the two major gamma-ray source classes: pulsars and Active Galactic Nuclei. However, for many of them the statistical classification needs to be verified against multi-wavelength observations. This is especially true for sources whose gamma-ray properties do not easily fit in either of the two classes. In this talk, we present the results of our multi-wavelength campaign of unidentified Fermi-LAT sources, carried out with a full gamut of facilities, and present very likely identifications and classifications for these sources.
