Abstract:
Approximately one-third of the sources listed in the Third Fermi-LAT catalogue (3FGL) remains unassociated. It is plausible that contained within this treasure trove hides the elusive self-annihilation signal from ultra-compact dark-matter substructures or minihalos. These ultra-compact minihalos may have hosted the earliest formation of Population III stellar clusters, which could be detectable today in archival imagery. We will discuss various strategies to search for hypothesized primordial optically ultra-faint minihalos within the uncertainty ellipses of suspected dark-matter annihilation candidates among unassociated 3FGL sources at high Galactic latitude.
