Abstract:

This paper reports about indication of two discrete spectral components contributing to the high-energy Gamma-ray emission of the extreme blazar 1ES0229+200. The Energy-spectra obtained with the Fermi-LAT instrument reveal an upturn in the GeV range. At lower energies the spectral index is rather soft and hardens continuously up to the highest energies sampled by Fermi-LAT. At the highest energies the spectrum matches to the hard, deabsorbed power-law spectra observed with Cherenkov instruments. While a discrete component of gamma-ray emission has been predicted to arise due to reprocessed secondary gamma-ray emission, the spectral and variability characteristics suggest that the spectral properties are more likely to be explained by distinct intrinsic components.
