Abstract:

We are presenting a measurement of the expansion rate and dark matter density of the Universe using gamma-ray attenuation data from the Large Area Telescope on board the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope. These exciting results are possible thanks to recent estimates of the attenuation features that the extragalactic background light leaves on blazar's gamma-ray spectra. Our measurements are complementary to other more mature techniques but necessary in order to control systematics, which can be reduced by combining results from different strategies.
