Fermi ToO 030603-1-1

A ToO observation to observe CYG X-3 at RA, Dec = 308.1100, 30.9800 (J2000) was approved at 2011-03-24 15:32:59 UTC.

The justification for the ToO is: The discovery of >100 MeV emission from Cygnus X-3 by Fermi demonstrated that very high energy particles are generated in microquasars. In addition, the recent work has shown very interesting radio/X-ray/gamma-ray connections, and a ToO with Fermi and multi-wavelength observations of Cygnus X-3 will provide an opportunity to learn about connections between the accretion disk and jet as well as interactions of the jet within the binary system and with the ISM or the wind of the Wolf-Ratey star. The proposed ToO observation will complement our accepted VLBI programs to track the inner jet region, a region that is likely connected to the site of the gamma-ray emission.

The planned duration is 500.00 ks.

The autonomous request threshold during this ToO is LOW.

The ToO observation should begin between 2011-03-24 15:32:58 UTC and 2011-03-31 15:32:58 UTC.

The ToO observation was requested by PROF. STEPHANE CORBEL.

The ToO commanding order was sent to the MOC at 2011-03-24 15:36:00 UTC.

The MOC acknowledged receipt of this order at 2011-03-24 15:37:22 UTC.

The MOC sent the ToO execution notification at 2011-03-24 17:12:30 UTC.

The ToO order status is Uplinked: uplinked on 2011-083-16:20:10, target is currently occulted.
