Fermi ToO 090603-1-1

A ToO observation to observe V5853 SGR at RA, Dec = 270.2825, -26.5287 (J2000) was approved at 2016-10-25 14:14:18 UTC.

The justification for the ToO is: V5853 Sgr is a bright nova recently discovered near the Galactic center. It is currently at V ~ 8 mag, but may still be brightening. We plan to trigger radio, optical, and X-ray follow-up of this system, along with Fermi observations. These observations will be a critical part of our 2016 campaign to understand the conditions under which novae produce gamma-rays, and why some novae are detected by LAT while others remain undetected.

The planned duration is 600.00 ks.

The autonomous request threshold during this ToO is LOW.

The ToO observation should begin between 2016-10-25 14:14:18 UTC and 2016-11-01 14:14:18 UTC.

The ToO observation was requested by PROF. LAURA CHOMIUK.
